The ceremony for this year’s BIG SEE Awards took place a few weeks ago in Ljubljana/Slovenia as part of the BIG SEE Architecture Festival. The BIG SEE Awards were established as regional awards aimed at exploring, connecting and promoting architecture’s creative and business potential.
For BUWOG this year there were several reasons to celebrate: the DECK ZEHN project (architecture: BKK3) as well as the Orchidea (architecture: Kirsch Architekten), Magnolia, Calla, Primula and Hortensia (architecture: LOVE Architects) components in the Kennedy Garden project won awards.
Andreas Holler, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH, is proud: “The fact that our projects have won the BIG SEE Award a number of times reflects the high standards of quality and design that we place on the architectural firms commissioned with planning our projects. It is an enormous honour and a pleasure to celebrate such a success together with them.”
Franz Sumnitsch, architect and managing director of BKK3: “It was a great honour for us to receive the 2024 BIG SEE Architectural Award for DECK ZEHN. Architecture is more than just the construction of buildings; it is the creation of spaces that enrich and inspire people’s lives. The award is a recognition of our achievements together with BUWOG and our passion for excellent design.”
Mark Jenewein, partner at LOVE architecture and urbanism: “The other day a good friend said of our project: ‘You've done really well! The subtle entrance to the development, which reflects the narrow streets of the surrounding area, and then the almost cloud-like large structure inside. The historical and contemporary concepts of density come together perfectly!’ We were extremely pleased with this statement and it is confirmed by the international-level BIG SEE Award.”
Clemens Kirsch, architect at kirsch ZT GmbH: “We were delighted that our project ‘Orchidea - Housing for Single Parents’ in the Kennedy Garden area in Vienna won the 2024 BIG SEE Award in the ‘Residential – Housing’ category this year. This award is a marvellous recognition of the joint commitment of BUWOG and our firm. The project impressed the jury with its socially sustainable qualities and its innovative typology in the area of apartment layouts (open-use, glassed-in “joker rooms” as open spaces that can be customised).”
